ASCA observations of the galactic bulge source 1 E 1743 . 1 - 2843

چکیده
We report the results of BeppoSAX and ASCA observations of the X–ray source 1E 1743.1–2843, located in the region of the galactic center, performed between 1993 and 1998. Observations spanning almost twenty years show that 1E 1743.1–2843 is a persistent X–ray source, most likely powered by accretion onto a compact galactic object. The absence of periodic pulsations and the relatively soft X–ray spectrum favour a Low Mass X–ray Binary containing a neutron star. However, no Type I X–ray bursts have been observed in more than 650 ks of observations, leaving other interpretations possible.

متن کاملFirst broad band study of the mysterious source 1 E 1743 . 1 – 2843 ⋆
Context. In the last years, the persistent source 1E 1743.1–2843 has been observed in the X-rays, but never above 20 keV. In previous works, it was stressed that a possible high energy emission could give further indications on the accreting object nature which remains still unknown. Aims. We present here more than two years of 1E 1743.1–2843 monitoring with INTEGRAL/IBIS as well as public XMM-...
متن کاملASCA X - ray observations of the Galactic bulge source SLX 1735 - 269
SLX 1735−269 is among the 10 persistent, high energy, SIGMA sources which contribute significantly to the last five year averaged γ/X-ray emission from the direction of the Galactic Center. Detailed study of the source has only been carried out recently from data collected by SIGMA in the 35-150 keV range without successfully establishing the nature of SLX 1735−269, consequently observations wi...
متن کاملGalactic X-ray Survey
We review highlights of the results obtained from recent Galactic X-ray survey observations, in particular ASCA Galactic center and plane survey and our Chandra deep survey on the (l, b) ≈ (28. ◦5, 0. ◦0) region. Strong hard X-ray diffuse components are observed from Galactic ridge, center and bulge, and they have both thermal and non-thermal spectral components. Dozens of discrete and extended...
متن کاملThe Zoo of X–ray sources in the Galactic Center Region: Observations with BeppoSAX
We report the results of a survey of the Galactic Center region (| l |< 2◦, | b |< 0.5◦) performed with the BeppoSAX satellite. The flux from the center of our Galaxy corresponds to a luminosity of ∼3 10 erg s−1 in the 2–10 keV range. Due to the limited angular resolution ( > ∼ 1′) only part of it is supposed to come from Sagittarius A*, the non–thermal radio source which is believed to mark th...
